Little used success strategy

Friday, May 18th, 2012

I love when legendary business philosopher, the late Jim Rohn used to say, “Success is easy! What can I say? It's hard? How can it be hard, when you live in America?” I always chuckled when he said that, because it's counter intuitive to what most people believe.

Most people believe success is hard, or that you have to break some rule or law, or hurt others to become successful. Wrong. Success is easy…. once you learn about and harness the laws and principles of success.

Wallace D. Wattles, best-selling author of The Science of Getting Rich said it best when he said, “There is a science of getting rich, and it is an exact science, like algebra or arithmetic. There are certain laws which govern the process of acquiring riches, and once those laws are learned and obeyed by any man (or woman), he will get rich with (more…)

The Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard

Monday, December 26th, 2011

This morning, I was reading the Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard, and “got” something I've never gotten before. It had a very profound effect on me, and thought I'd pass it along.

As the story goes, a man woke early in the morning to go hire workers for his vineyard. The first men he hired agreed to work for one penny per day. After those workers had been laboring for 3 hours, the man observed there were many still unemployed and standing around idle in the marketplace.  He hires the men and tells them to work in his vineyard and he would pay them what was right.

3 hours later, he hires more who were idle in the market, and 3 hours after that he hires some more, telling each to go work in his vineyard and he would pay them what was right.

At the 11th hour, he went again into the marketplace and saw that there were (more…)

The Power of Commitment

Saturday, August 27th, 2011

A couple of days ago, I posted an article titled, The Power of Decision. Apparently, it struck it nerve because it's been “Liked” on Facebook more than 100 times in less than 48 hours. So, while we have some mental momentum going, I thought I'd post the follow up to that article, which is The Power of Commitment.

Decision and commitment are twin sisters. On one side of the coin you have decision. On the other is commitment. One without the other is useless. What good is it to make a decision that you are not committed to seeing out? And what good is it to commit to something you've not yet decided on?

There have been many things said about the power of commitment. Books have been written, and quotes have been coined on the topic by the dozens. One of my favorite quotes on commitment comes from Jeff Olson, author of the Slight Edge. He teaches, “Commitment is doing the thing you said you would do long after the mood you said it in has left you.” It's so easy to get exited in the moment, but the real test is what you do when you're in the trenches taking enemy fire. Persisting in spite of any obstacle, insurmountable or other wise, is what commitment is all about.

Motivational speaker and author Zig Ziglar once said, “Most people are committed like a Kamikaze pilot on his 39th mission.”

That one gets a smile out of me every time.

My favorite quote on commitment is below. (more…)

Whatchu Talkin Bout Willis

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

As a kid, one of my favorite TV programs to watch was Different Strokes. The main character was young Arnold Jackson played by the recently deceased Gary Coleman. Any time Arnold’s older brother Willis said anything Arnold didn’t want to hear, Arnold would say his famous line, “Whatchu Talkin’ ‘Bout Willis?” I always laughed when he said that. But now looking back, its a good question. So let me ask you, what are you talking about?

Your words are powerful. They have life-force. Said another way, your words have the power to bring themselves to life.

In the beginning, we’re told, was the WORD, and the WORD was with God and as a matter of fact  (more…)

Success and Babies

Monday, March 21st, 2011

From conception to birth, there is a gestation period, the time it takes for the baby to develop. For a mouse, the gestation period is 3 weeks. Humans, 40 weeks. And for elephants it's 92 weeks from beginning to end.

Just like babies, there is a gestation period that must pass from the time we conceive an idea or a goal, to the time we realize it. The health of your success hinges upon proper gestation. Yes, you can cut corners or cheat the system, but this will produce sickly success, which will be short lived. (more…)

Your Thoughts on the Law of Attraction

Monday, January 17th, 2011

In 2006, the movie The Secret took the world by storm. Almost everyone, even those who “aren't into that stuff,” have at least heard of the movie. The movie focuses on what many feel is a law of this universe, The Law of Attraction.

Though the majority of the people who watched the movie loved it, some didn't. Among those who didn't like the film were many hard-core Christians. As a Christian myself (not the closed minded – boarding on ignorant type—-forgive me), I loved the movie. Far from perfect, and not wholly “true,” but it's a fantastic introduction for the uninitiated.

By the way, as my little sideline tirade, I don't know why any “Christian” would have a problem with this video as a whole. The movie teaches the same thing (more…)

Let Your Dreams Impregnate You

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Yes, I know. It's a weird title. Bare with me.

My last post was very unique. It was certainly not the norm for my blog, but it has gotten excellent feedback and lots of comments, so apparently, I touched a nerve.

Before you read this article, please read my last one. That will give you a good foundation and will put this article in perspective.

My wife was gone for most of the evening tonight. When she got home, I read my last article to her. When I got to the part about conceiving, she came up with a brilliant idea and suggested that I write this post. Before I share her idea with you, let me recount the part of my last article about conceiving.

As I see it, a focused thought void of intense emotion is like sperm. An intense emotion void of focused thought is like egg. And a focused thought conjoined with intense emotion creates life; energy; spirit.

In my estimation, this is what Napoleon Hill meant when he said, “What the mind of man can conceive and believe it can achieve.” Conceiving is much more than just having a mental image. What do we call it when sperm and egg are joined? Conception or to conceive. Conceive defined means literally to become pregnant with.

Our focused thoughts and intense emotions, when meshed together creates life.

It was at this point that my wife, who happens to be pregnant, stopped me and said:

In order to truly conceive an idea, goal or dream, like being pregnant, the idea has to take over your whole mind and body. When a woman is pregnant, her entire body changes. Her thoughts and feelings change. Her hormones change. Her behavior changes. Where she goes and what she does changes. What she eats changes. Everything changes.

If a person has truly “conceived” a goal they want to accomplish, they will by default become impregnated. As a result, everything should change. And if they are accomplish their goal, everything must change. Their thoughts and feelings must change. Their actions must change. What they do and where they go must change. Their energy and vibration must change.

Brilliant huh? And yes, I get all my material from her.

I don't know that there's much to add, other than I concur!

Any time a dream has taken hold of me, everything changes. Typically, I'm a really laid back guy. But when pregnant with a goal or a dream, I'm totally different. It may not be observable on the outside, but inside, I have a much higher level of focus and intensity. My thoughts are consumed by my goal. I take specific actions every day, which will bring me closer to my goal; steps I would not have taken  without the changes that follow conception.

This is a very difficult phenomenon to explain. But any of you who have experienced it, know exactly what I mean.

As you are engaging in high level thinking about your life, dreams, goals and aspirations, inspiration will burst on your mind. This inspiration is typically an idea that takes hold of you. Once the idea “gets” you, your emotions kick in. You begin to get excited, thinking of all the possibilities.

Your mind goes nuts! You begin having so many ideas, you have to grab a pen and paper to capture them all. Your heart rate increases. Sleep is a turn off. Every time you lay down, you have another idea, which gets your blood flowing again, pushing sleep further and further away. Often you stay up late and get up early. You can't wait to get started every day! It's all you talk about and think about, and it's all you want to do.

If you have ever experienced this, you really did conceive. You really were pregnant! And if you believe you can accomplish in your life, what you conceived in your mind and heart, you will in deed achieve. What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.

Spiritual Creation

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Around 500 BC, Budah said, “All that we are is the result of what we have thought. With our thoughts, we make the world.”

About 950 BC, the great King Solomon of the Old Testament, known to be one of the wisest and wealthiest men in history said about man, “As he thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

Marcus Aurelius, the Roman Emperor who ruled from 161 AD to 180 AD, and considered one of the most important of all stoic philosophers said, “A man's life is what his thoughts make of it.”

In 1902, British philosopher and author James Allen popularized King Solomon's quote in his classic book, As a Man Thinketh, where he wrote, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” He wrote: (more…)

Positive Affirmations (Part 1 of 2)

Monday, October 4th, 2010

Today's article and podcast is about positive affirmations; what they are, how to create them and how to use them to get what you want. I mentioned in my last video that my next article would be about how to reset your financial set point. That was my intention, but as I was writing it, I realized I needed to create a supplemental article, one on positive affirmations. The heart of the techniques I will describe to reset your financial set point will be positive affirmations. So, let's dive into that for a few minutes.

First, lets define affirmations. An affirmation is a (more…)

How to Start Your Day

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Have you ever noticed that if something bad happens early in the morning, the rest of the day seems to be off? There's actually a scientific explanation for why this is. I won't go into great detail, but I do want to touch on it.

Everything is in constant movement or vibration and emits a frequency. It's pretty commonly known that a dog can sense fear. Fear is a frequency. If you are scared of the dog, the dog is scared of you because it can perceive your frequency of fear. Think about how a dog whistle works. When you blow it, you and I can only hear the sound of your breath being forced through the plastic. But a dog will be noticeably disrupted as it hears a very high pitched and even painful sound/vibration/frequency. Dogs can hear this frequency, humans can't. (more…)
