I was talking on the phone with a friend Lori, and went out to check the mail, and sat at the kitchen table to open it, there were various envelopes and the one I chose first was a check with a statement attached to it. I was stunned, doubtful (that it was real) and excited that it might be really for me!I was walking in circles oh no what should I do, how can I make sure this is real? I decided to keep opening the mail looking for an explanation and there was another letter explaining that the Insurance Company of a previous employer had determined that my WC case has assumed liability and this is owed me from passed weeks of pay, and to be expecting an additional 840.00/week. This was just to unbelievable for me. I was so darn excited I could not sit down, my friend Lori stated \”I am so glad I got to be the one on the phone with you when you received such great news! My spirits were definitely high, but I am extremely articulate, analytical, ya, ya ok…anal, OCD, type A, whatever you want to call it and dog gone proud! I said to Lori \”I have to be sure this is really mine to cash, we are so behind in bills this will be such a blessing, I am going to call my WC attorney and make sure it is real.\” So I hung up the phone and called my mother first, because she also has a pending WC case, & I wanted to see if she had ever received something like this. She had not & without hesitation told me that I should not cash it, it would probably be taken out of final settlement, or was owed to the attorney, I would have to pay it back somewhere. That is my mom negative nellie, she is one of the most negative people I have ever met, and I had to be raised by her. Amazing I turned out so POSITIVE (probably to spite Her). She also told me call the attorney, but you probably won\'t be able to talk to him he is not there and his secretary is on vacation…Always hoping for the best Mom? So, I hung up with mom and dialed my WC Attorney, she was right no answer. NO WAY could I wait 2 weeks with this check in my hands, I had to do something NOW!!! So I did a bit of brain-storming…OMG I have Pre-Paid Legal they NEVER go on vacation, I can call and ask to speak to a WC Attorney to get my informed final answer, I may have to wait 8 business hours, but that is sure better than 2 weeks(80 Business hrs.)…I called, explained the situation, opened a file #, gave my call back numbers and waited…pacing the house staring at this check and re-reading the letter, within 20-30 min. Mr. N. Scwartz WC Attorney from Parker/Stanbury Law Firm returned my call, I went over everything,and when I finally stopped talking, Mr. Scwartz said \”I wish all my calls could be like this, THIS IS 100% REAL, 100% yours, 100% TAX-FREE,will not be given to attorney\'s fees and CANNOT BE TAKEN FROM YOUR FINAL SETTLEMENT, someone is looking at your case and saying oh no, we owe her money\” You are entitled to 104 weeks of pay I am still owed 45 weeks at 840.00/week = $ 37,800. I was screaming with excitement, it has been an extremely difficult time the past three years, I see it is finally starting to pay off, thank you Lord, I am extremely grateful for all that you bless us with… Thank You, Thank You, Thank You :-}
