One Minute Mentoring Session #25 – The Magic of Commitment

Until you are truly committed, there is always the possibility of you dragging your feet, or throwing in the towel, quitting, or more cowardly, just quietly back-stepping into the shadows of mediocrity. No matter your goal, your desire, your definite major purpose or chief aim, there is one basic truth that you must know in order to see your ideas and goals come to completion.

It’s this; in the very moment that you truly and whole heartedly commit yourself, THEN Providence moves TOO!

So many are going at life alone. They never engage the Power of Providence. Not that Providence wasn’t always there and willing to assist, it most certainly was. But most never engage Providence. When a person is committed, they have stepped into a place of faith. And it is faith that unlocks the coffer of miracles.

How does one with no faith perform a miracle? He can not. And how can one with no faith accomplish her goal. She can not. Faith grows into full blown commitment, and commitment reels in the divine assistance of Providence. This is the difference between those who try and fail, and those who just simply do.

Providence defined is, the protective care of God. I don’t know about you, but I want to invoke the protective care of God. Of course He cares for us anyways and always. But the question is, does He care about your goal? It’s my belief that he doesn’t care unless you care. And when you are committed to your goal, then Providence  commits too.  And once God commits to your Goal, or in other words, commits to assisting you with the desires of your heart….

Then, all sorts of things will begin to happen that would have never otherwise occurred. As a result of your faith and commitment, Providence will cause that a whole stream of events will flow into your life, seemingly magically raising in your favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance. All the people you need to meet, you will meet. The leaders you need to attract, will arrive. The sales you need to hit your mark, the speech you need to perfect, the relationship, the money you need to make, the assistance of the right people, the mentor, the coach, the publisher, the designer… anything you need in order to accomplish your goal will mysteriously and divinely show up in your life.

And in the end, when success is perched upon your mantel, and you have experienced the pinnacle, the very top of the mountain, and now have the perspective and enlightenment of achievement, you will look back on your experience, and if you are humble, will realize you had Help. As hard as you worked, you had Help. As much pain as you endured, you had Help. Even with all the sacrifice, you had Help. And it is that Help that every victor should desire. And when you get it, you can and will enjoy every harmonious desire of your heart. And that, is the magic of commitment.

Chris, you must be psychic! But surely you are inspired.

You have just voiced the very experience I’ve been having for the last couple of weeks.

At the turn of this year, I told myself that I had enough motivational coaching to start “doing”. I committed to doing. I am a songwriter and author. I had put in one of my books to a publisher in November (I hope to hear back positively from them here in the next month). Then, I was writing what I considered to be one of the most important works of my life in the meantime of waiting to hear on the first book. I the meantime of that, I had discovered that I had received over 10,000 views on one of my love song videos–in less than a year–that’s not bad at all for an unknown! So, I worked to make more videos, and had some fans ask me to make my songs downloadable. Technically challenged as I am, and somewhat motivationally challenged at the time (and the holidays didn’t help!), it took me about four months to bring this to fruition for my fans. No one has purchased anything yet, but iTunes graphs show that one of my love songs is so popular that all bars are lit. Another yahoo for an unknown. So far, I’m giving everything away for free (and even some expense to me), but at least it’s out there for the world, as I see it. And things were going in a direction that I did feel I was finally getting my careers off the ground.

And of course, as life would have it–just then, I had FOUR huge things dumped into my life. Just before Christmas my dad was diagnosed with stage four cancer. (My mother had just gotten over a serious illness, so I was already traveling 1/2 hour each way, every other day, to their home to help them.) My little brother has recently been diagnosed with liver failure (he’s only in his 30′s with two little boys of his own & a wife). My wayward teen daughter moved out of the ex’s house and had her first child (my first grandchild–so, I’m trying to see and help her each day), and my husband’s wayward son moved back into our home last Nov, but confessed he had gotten his girlfriend pregnant. To make a long story short, we now have his infant in our home, and I am spending many days babysitting her instead of doing my work. The first week after that happened, I found myself shutting down and wondering how I would ever reach my goals with so many demands upon me. I started to panic, then I had a talk with God, in a quiet moment when I had laid down to sleep. I told God that I knew what He wanted me to do, and that I intended to do it–even it this all takes 3x longer than I had planned–I’m still going to work on my goals, and make them happen.

You have definitely been a significant part of my strength, Chris. I’m not there yet, but I still expect to fly. And if it is all I can do to give all that I have freely to the world by the end of my life, then so be it (though secretly in my heart I hope I can make some income to deplete my debts and bless my children in their efforts for higher education & even bless many, many others in this life).

See how you are so inspired? love to you, my friend

Mr. Hughes, your words pierce through the oldest, most well constructed excuses built by man. I’m happy to say that I keep on my office wall, your autograph with the two simple words you added…”You can!” All we have to do is commit. Many, many thanks.

That was FANTASTIC! So glad that I have my Helper by my side, always. My goals are important to me and I know they are to my Helper as well. What a journey; as long as I have my Helper along the way, I will persevere and succeed greatly. Thanks for the reminder Mr. Hughes. You are awesome and I appreciate you.
