A couple hundred years ago, we were living in agrarian societies, meaning generally, the population depended upon agriculture and farming. During the 18th and 19th centuries, we moved from agrarian societies, where the men and women of that era used their hands and their physical strength to make a living, into industrial societies where they began to rely on fossil fuel as well as the physical strength of men and woman. Generally, during this time, millions of families were leaving the farms for the city, hoping to find a good job that didn’t depend on the sunshine and the rain.
On the backside of the industrial revolution, we moved into the service age, where an increasing number of people held jobs as clerks, office workers, teachers, nurses, sales people and so on. And in the 1980’s about the time the fax machines and personal computers came on the seen, civilized nations of the world morphed into the information and communication age. And we’re still in it today.
Almost everyone knows we are in the information age, but most don’t know what that means to them. It means a lot. Millions of people around the world today are playing by the rules of an industrial or service age economy, and wondering why they are struggling to get by every month. It’s because they are playing by the rules of a game that is no longer.
In order to succeed in life, first and foremost you’ve gotta know the rules of the game. And the rules have changed. There was a time when we relied on the physical prowess of man. Today, many are enjoying significant wealth from the might of their mind. Today it’s not about showing up to work every day, clocking in and clocking out. It’s about creating, gathering, packing and distributing information. It’s about how quickly we can communicate our message to the masses. As a matter of fact in his best selling book, The Conspiracy of the Rich, Robert T. Kiyosaki teaches that the new currency of the new economy is knowledge. Not gold, not silver, and not worthless fiat currency, but knowledge, and your ability to leverage it, trade it and communicate it.
So what world do you live in? Are you driving a tractor through clouds of dirt in the agrarian age? Are you using your physical might in the industrial age? Are you waiting tables for tips in the service age? Or are you leveraging the power of your mind and in the business of sales or distribution of information?
It's ok if you're still in the past somewhere, as long as you know you're in the past and either you're ok with it, or you have an aggressive plan to catch up with the rest of the world.
We are in the midst of the greatest wealth transfer in the history of the world. Those who know that the shift is occurring, why the shift is occurring and how to position themselves on the right side of the shift, will do very, very well. All others… it's not looking good.
Today, more so than ever, it's urgent that we be taking in new and relevant information every day about the world in which we live. The world is changing so quickly, if we take a year off from our self-education, or even a few months, we may never catch up. This is one of the reasons I didn't finish college. Right or wrong, I felt like I would be 4, 5 or 6 years behind after graduation, rather than ahead. Over the next 10 years we will see all text books go to digital rather than paper. Currently, things are changing so rapidly, many of our text books are out of date 6 months after print, or even before they go to print. The only way to keep up is to be able to update in real time. Digital. Communication. Information.
If you feel like you are on the wrong side of the tide, take a deep breath and relax. I am totally committed to helping you. We can work on it together, but I must say this. Catch up as fast as you can. If I can help, don't hesitate to ask. That's what I'm here for. I'm your success coach!
This is an important message. I hope you will share it on Facebook, Twitter or any other links below. And, I'd love to get your thoughts!
