Vision without Action is Delusion! August 2, 2010

There are two great bonus videos below.

If I have one critique of the personal development industry, it is that so many lean too heavy on goal setting, reading, affirmations, visualization, meditation and a long list of other activities, and not enough on gettin' out there and doing something!

This was my biggest complaint with the movie (and subsequent book and audio), The Secret. Overall, I felt it was a great movie and very well done, though, far from perfect. Where I felt they dropped the ball was on the ACTION part of success. There should have been an entire chapter (or two) devoted to the need to sow the seed, in order to reap the harvest.

Now, before I continue, let me say this. I am familiar with the laws of this universe and the laws of creation. I get the power of our thoughts, words and intentions. I understand that when a man thinks a thought and emotionalizes it, he has created spirit, or energy. And, I understand that all energy, or spirit, wants to be embodied. I get all that. And still, it is my experience and my belief, that even if a man or woman creates abundance in their mind, and it is in route to them from an obedient universe, if they are lazy and indolent, providing no value and simply taking up space on the universal couch, by the same power of the mind that created the desired result, will come opposing thoughts and negative faith, which will send the desired blessing back out into the universe and upon another man or woman more deserving.

Said another way, we can attract whatever we want. But if we are out of harmony with the law of sowing and reaping, we will repel the thing before it reaches us, or we will self sabotage shortly after it arrives on the door step of our life.

ACTION is the final step in the Basic System of Success. To recap…

Step 1 is to read 10+ pages a day of a good book.

Step 2 is to listen to one+ cd (or 45 minutes) of a motivational/education audio every day.

Step 3 is to attend at least one live seminar, workshop or class every 90 days.

Steps 4 & 5 are to associate with those who are positive and have the life that you want, and to disassociate with those who are negative.
And finally, step 6, todays message, is about putting into practice or taking ACTION on everything that you learn from your reading, listening, seminars and positive associations.

I'm reminded of a 40 something year old man, who was working for little higher than minimum wage, as a graveyard shift, parking lot security guy in Park City, Utah, who had read the book, Think and Grow Rich, in his 20′s. Here's a guy who knew the stuff, but obviously took no action, or least didn't take the proper action. Lao Tzu said, “To know and not to do, is not yet to know.”

So don't be like that. Don't be a professional student, always learning and never serving. In my mind, the reason we do personal development is so we can become more valuable, and in turn, be of greater benefit and value to those around us.

There you go… that is the Basic System for Success!

Now, I think I will push the Advanced System for Success way down the road a bit. I've got some other shows I want to do first, and I'm going to launch an experiment in the next week or two. In this experiment, you and I are going to attract ONE MILLION DOLLARS of unexpected income into our lives, in real time!! Know anyone who could use some cash?? Spread the word! Everyone who participates, the right way, is going to have a significant amount of unexpected income come their way! It is going to be AWESOME! So stay tuned for that.

PS: There are two great videos below from a man named Art Williams, who built the largest insurance agency in the world in a very short period of time. His message is about DOING IT, and not just knowing it, or saying it. I LOVE IT! I hope you like it!

Just do it! That is as good of a statement that anyone could make!

  • Isabel Ward

The message is so clear and simple, it is really scary like Mr. Williams says…”just do it, and do it, and do it, until the job gets done!” It's true that winners and successful people do what unsuccessful people are unwilling to do. So inspiring! Thank you for sharing this and for recapping the Basic System of Success. It's time for me to go out and do it now!

  • Isabel Ward

That was awesome. can't believe I haven't come across it before. It's so true what you say about the secret too. I loved the movie too but drew the same conclusions as you. In fact I read an article on it just this morning http://habitualvictory.com/has-loa-left-you-doa.

Just do it! Wow! someone ought to make a catchphrase out of that!

  • Tammie Hathcock

Got this quote from a friend and thought it went well with today's lesson!

“The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something! It's as simple as that. A lot of peoplehave ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today!”
